There’s a historic shipwreck, camping, beach combing and hiking and a military base that served the fort from the time of the civil war through World War II. As far as access to local attractions, this travel trailer/motorhome friendly park is close to Fort Clatsop, the winter camp for Lewis and Clark. Fort Clatsop features ranger-led activities and programs in full costume, beginning in the summer and continuing through Labor Day weekend.

2. Nehalem Bay State Park – Reservations in advance are highly recommended. Pull through sites are available – but are subject to availability, and very popular. This park is rated 4.6 Stars on Google Places. Nestled among rolling sand dunes and a nearly 2-mile bike trail, campers will be delighted to find seasonal Elk and Deer grazing, clamming, crabbing, fishing, and hiking are just some of the plentiful amenities and activities available at this state park, known as one of the most “beautiful” in the State. According to the website – “Beach-combing produces special rewards – treasures that include agates, shells, and occasionally glass floats.”

3. Silver Falls State Park – This State Park is known as the “crown jewel” of Oregon. While the spots are “back in” the scenery and access to some of the world’s most breathtaking waterfalls make the extra effort worth it, in order to camp here.

For the moderate to an avid hiker, the Trail of Ten Falls will lead you through emerald green forests to arrive at stunning views of the most beautiful waterfalls found anywhere in the US. The famous South Falls offer a unique view from behind a waterfall, with a 177 ft sparkling curtain of water crashing in front of you. The park offers 35 miles of backcountry biking and horseback trails. Day use area is ideal for gatherings, and the park is very pet and child-Friendly. Summer reservations are recommended in advance, as this is one of Oregon’s most popular camping and RV locations.
